Kakuro Helper is ideal for calculating the possible number combinations to use in a Kakuro (or cross sum) puzzle. Kakuro Helper is not intended to solve the puzzle but only to help you calculate the possible solutions for a given clue. For example, if you have 4 squares that have a sum of 11 the Kakuro Helper would tell you that the only solution that works is [1 2 3 5]. To use Kakuro Helper, spin the first wheel to the number of squares in the clue (e.g., 4) and the second wheel to the sum of those squares (e.g., 11). The results will show in the Solutions area. Each row of the Solution Box is a separate solution. The numbers shown in the row are the answers for that solution. If multiple solutions are possible they will be listed in separate rows. The number of solutions can be narrowed by entering known numbers (that is, numbers that are already determined to be part of the solution). These numbers can be set by switching the corresponding switch on the right hand side of the window. Turning on one of the numbers will filter the solutions to only those containing that number. The Switched on number will be shown as an "*" to show that it has been selected. if by switching on certain number combinations all possible solutions are eliminated, the result box will show that no solutions are possible and an error has been made. To clear all of the selected numbers press the "Reset" button and all of the switches will be returned to the off condition and the solution box will show all the combinations for the Number of Rows and Sum selected.
